A few weeks ago we told the story of our friends who live in the alley behind our apartment. Today, only one of our friends was sitting in the alley as Harry and I (Jon) came by on our walk to the post office.
His name is Kenny and he wore the same clothes he always does. Somehow, his spirits never seem to get too far down, but today I could see he was feeling the weight of his situation living on the streets. He said, "Man, being homeless isn't just hard physically. It effects everything; mental, physical, emotional and spiritual. I just gotta find a way to get off the streets."
Kenny wants to get off the streets, but he needs help. We brought him lunch and some good reading material, but we need to be with our friend for the long haul. I told him he was loved. Please help us show him he is loved. Pray for Kenny...pray for hope, money, opportunity, healing, physical provision. While we pray for these things, I am confident that God is asking his people (us) to be the answer to those prayers by embodying Jesus to this man through our physical provision (Matt. 25). If you have a physical gift or note for Kenny, send it our way and we will pass it on.
Jesus, thanks for letting us see your face in the eyes of Kenny.
